Meet Dr. Hannah Huerta, DC, CCSP®

Dr. Hannah brings more than a decade of clinical experience to Kinetic Chiropractic & Massage. She graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 2015 and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®).

As a mother of three, Dr. Hannah has a particular passion for supporting women throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Her background as a collegiate cross-country and track athlete also influences her movement-based approach to chiropractic care.

Dr. Hannah combines individualized chiropractic care with soft-tissue techniques, mobility work, and movement-based rehabilitation when appropriate.

Why Does Your Body Feel Different During Pregnancy?

As your baby grows, your body continually adapts.

Changes in posture, weight distribution, movement patterns, and the demands placed on your muscles and joints can contribute to new areas of tension or discomfort.

Some women begin noticing changes in their:

  • Low back

  • Pelvis and hips

  • Sacroiliac (SI) joints

  • Mid and upper back

  • Neck and shoulders

  • Gluteal muscles

  • Hip flexors

  • Overall mobility and movement

Activities that once felt easy—sleeping, walking, exercising, getting out of a chair, or simply finding a comfortable position—may begin to feel different.

Pregnancy chiropractic care at Kinetic focuses on evaluating these musculoskeletal changes and developing an individualized approach based on how your body is moving and feeling.

Common Reasons Pregnant Patients Visit Kinetic

Every pregnancy is different, and there isn't one standard treatment plan for every expecting mother.

Pregnant patients may seek chiropractic care for concerns such as:

  • Pregnancy-related low back discomfort

  • Pelvic and SI joint discomfort

  • Hip and gluteal tension

  • Mid-back stiffness

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Muscular tightness

  • Changes in mobility

  • Discomfort associated with changing posture

  • Difficulty staying comfortable during everyday activities

  • Maintaining movement and activity throughout pregnancy

You don't have to be experiencing significant pain to schedule an appointment. Some women simply want additional musculoskeletal support as their bodies change throughout pregnancy.

What Does Pregnancy Chiropractic Care Look Like?

Pregnancy chiropractic care should not look exactly the same for every patient—or even the same for one patient throughout every trimester.

Dr. Hannah modifies care based on your stage of pregnancy, comfort level, symptoms, activity level, and individual goals.

Your care may include:

Chiropractic Care

Gentle chiropractic techniques may be used to address areas of joint restriction and support comfortable movement.

Soft-Tissue & Myofascial Therapy

Muscular tension can develop as your posture and movement patterns change. Soft-tissue techniques may be incorporated when appropriate to address areas of tension and restriction.

Mobility

Individualized mobility strategies can help you continue moving comfortably as your body changes.

Movement-Based Rehabilitation

When appropriate, Dr. Hannah may recommend exercises designed around your current abilities and goals.

The goal isn't to put every pregnant patient through the same protocol. It's to determine what you need at this particular stage of pregnancy.

A Movement-Based Approach to Prenatal Chiropractic Care

At Kinetic, we believe pregnancy shouldn't automatically mean giving up the activities you enjoy.

Every woman's activity level and pregnancy are different, and recommendations should always take your individual circumstances and guidance from your prenatal healthcare team into consideration.

Dr. Hannah's movement-based approach is particularly well suited for women who want to remain active throughout pregnancy.

Whether that means continuing to walk, exercise, work, care for other children, or simply move through everyday life more comfortably, your care plan is built around your goals.

Chiropractic Care Throughout Your Pregnancy

First Trimester

Even before significant physical changes are visible, some women begin noticing differences in energy, activity tolerance, muscular tension, or comfort.

Care during this stage can be adjusted based on how you're feeling and what your body needs.

Second Trimester

As your baby grows, changes in posture and weight distribution become more noticeable. Some women begin experiencing increased tension through the low back, pelvis, hips, and surrounding musculature.

Treatment positions and techniques are adapted to maintain your comfort.

Third Trimester

As physical demands increase, everyday activities may become more challenging. Care can continue to be modified around your changing body, comfort level, and mobility.

There is no predetermined number of visits required simply because you're pregnant. Recommendations are individualized based on your presentation and goals.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first visit begins with a conversation.

Dr. Hannah will discuss your pregnancy, health history, current concerns, activity level, and goals for care.

She will then perform an appropriate musculoskeletal evaluation to better understand your mobility, movement patterns, and areas of discomfort or restriction.

If chiropractic care is appropriate, Dr. Hannah will discuss her recommendations with you and answer your questions before moving forward.

Pregnancy care at Kinetic is designed to be collaborative, comfortable, and individualized.

Pregnancy Care Beyond Chiropractic

One advantage of receiving care at Kinetic Chiropractic & Massage is having access to multiple services within one clinic.

Depending on your individual needs and stage of pregnancy, your care may complement services such as:

Frequently Asked Questions About Pregnancy Chiropractic

Can I see a chiropractor while pregnant?

Chiropractic care can be provided during pregnancy, with treatment techniques and positioning modified for the patient's stage of pregnancy and comfort. Your individual health history and pregnancy should always be considered before beginning care. If there are concerns or complications with your pregnancy, Dr. Hannah may recommend coordinating with your OB, midwife, or other prenatal healthcare provider.

When during pregnancy can I start chiropractic care?

There isn't one specific point during pregnancy when every patient needs to begin chiropractic care. Some women seek care early in pregnancy, while others first visit after developing musculoskeletal discomfort later in pregnancy. Dr. Hannah evaluates each patient individually.

Do you modify chiropractic treatment for pregnant patients?

Yes. Positioning, treatment techniques, and recommendations are modified based on your stage of pregnancy, comfort level, and individual presentation.

Do I need to be in pain to schedule an appointment?

No. While many patients initially seek care because they're experiencing musculoskeletal discomfort, others are interested in maintaining mobility and comfortable movement as their bodies change.

Can I continue exercising during pregnancy?

Exercise recommendations during pregnancy depend on your individual circumstances and guidance from your prenatal healthcare provider. If you've been cleared for physical activity, Dr. Hannah can take your activity goals into consideration when developing your musculoskeletal care plan.

Can I continue chiropractic care after having my baby?

Yes. Your musculoskeletal needs may change again following delivery. Postpartum chiropractic care can focus on mobility, muscular tension, movement patterns, and gradually returning to your normal activities based on your individual circumstances.

Does Kinetic also provide chiropractic care for babies and children?

Yes. Dr. Hannah also has a special interest in pediatric chiropractic care. Techniques and evaluations are adapted based on the child's age, size, development, and individual needs.
